Abstract

In the context of global climate change and sea level rise, Vietnam's coastal zones face numerous challenges from shoreline erosion and accretion. This study aims to evaluate coastline changes in the coastal area of Rach Gia City (An Giang Province) using remote sensing technology based on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, combined with Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, specifically the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS). The results indicate that the coastline of Rach Gia has undergone significant accretion, predominantly in areas of coastal land reclamation, accounting for approximately 88.09% of the total length of accreted shoreline. The average shoreline change rate (EPR) reaches 6–10 m/year, and the Linear Regression Rate (LRR) reaches up to 11.94 m/year. The study provides scientific basis for integrated coastal zone management and sustainable coastal urban development planning
