Interferometry (InSAR) is a technique to measure ground subsidence and has ability to building ground subsidence map on a large spatial scalewith high accuracy from space. TThis study presents the Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PSInSAR) method to determine the surface deformation velocity of the terrain in Muong Lay town – Dien Bien province, based on Sentinel-1 ascending orbit data with 50 images acquired from 2018 to 2022. The results reveal surface deformation in the Muong Lay area with 20.493 PS points, ranging from -8.1 mm/year to 7.4 mm/year. The distribution of PS values across residential areas along the Nam Lay stream within Muong Lay town indicates zones experiencing downward subsidence (negative values) as well as uplift (positive values). These findings provide a basis for identifying the causes of terrain surface changes and for proposing preventive measures to mitigate damages in Muong Lay town, Dien Bien province, in future in-depth studies.
