Conflict of Interest Policy

Conflict of Interest Policy

Tạp chí Trắc địa – Bản đồ is committed to maintaining independence, objectivity, and transparency throughout the peer-review, editorial, and publication processes.

A conflict of interest may arise when financial, professional, academic, personal, or other interests could influence, or could reasonably be perceived to influence, the objectivity of research, peer review, or editorial decisions.

1. Conflicts of Interest of Authors

Authors are responsible for disclosing any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may affect their research or the publication of their article.

Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial relationships or financial interests related to the research;

  • Professional relationships or collaborations that may affect objectivity;

  • Personal relationships involving authors, reviewers, or members of the Editorial Board;

  • Academic or competitive interests that may influence the research or publication process;

  • Funding or other support from organizations that may have an interest in the research findings.

The existence of a conflict of interest does not necessarily prevent publication. However, relevant conflicts must be disclosed so that the journal can assess and manage them appropriately.

If there is no conflict of interest, authors should state:

“The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest related to this research and its publication.”

2. Conflicts of Interest of Reviewers

Reviewers must inform the journal of any conflict of interest that could affect the objectivity of their evaluation of a manuscript.

Reviewers should not accept or continue reviewing a manuscript when they have personal, professional, collaborative, competitive, or other relationships that could affect their judgment.

Reviewers are responsible for informing the editor of any potential conflict of interest and declining the review when appropriate.

Information and ideas obtained during the peer-review process must remain confidential and must not be used for personal advantage.

3. Conflicts of Interest of Editors and Editorial Board Members

Editors and Editorial Board members must avoid participating in editorial decisions concerning manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.

A conflict of interest may arise when a manuscript:

  • Is authored by the editor or Editorial Board member;

  • Is submitted by a close colleague, research collaborator, or person with whom the editor has a close personal relationship;

  • Is directly related to the editor's professional, financial, or academic interests;

  • Involves other relationships that could affect the objectivity of the editorial decision.

In such cases, the editor concerned must inform the Editor-in-Chief or another appropriate editorial authority and must not participate in the decision-making process for the manuscript.

Manuscripts submitted by Editorial Board members or individuals with a direct relationship to the Editorial Board must be handled through an independent peer-review process in the same manner as other submissions.

4. Disclosure and Management of Conflicts of Interest

Authors should disclose conflicts of interest at the time of submission or as soon as new information becomes available during the editorial process.

The journal may request additional information from authors, reviewers, or editors when necessary to assess the nature and significance of a potential conflict of interest.

When a conflict of interest is identified, the journal may take one or more appropriate measures, including:

  • Assigning alternative reviewers;

  • Assigning a different editor to handle the manuscript;

  • Requesting additional clarification or disclosure;

  • Requiring the relevant conflict of interest to be disclosed in the published article;

  • Taking other measures necessary to maintain the objectivity and transparency of the publication process.

5. Conflicts of Interest Identified After Publication

If a significant conflict of interest is identified after publication, the journal will assess the matter and take appropriate action to maintain the transparency and integrity of the published record.

Depending on the nature and significance of the issue, the journal may request additional disclosure, publish a correction or editorial notice, or take other appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

The journal is committed to handling conflicts of interest fairly, objectively, and transparently.
